These records can have legal dates and public-service consequences, so preserve the difference between an application, an issued license, a filing, an assessed charge, and a received payment.
Business licensing and compliance
Maintain the legal and operating identity on Municipal Businesses and the financial relationship on Municipal Accounts. Define policy with License Types, receive requests as License Applications, and create Licenses only after the required review. Use Compliance Tasks for inspections, documents, renewals, and follow-up obligations.
Filings, charges, and payments
Payroll tax, net profit, and local tax filings record what was reported for a period. Municipal Charges record assessed fees, penalties, taxes, or other amounts. Business License Payments record money received. Reconcile the filing or charge to its payment status instead of changing the assessed amount to make a balance disappear.
